My name is Renato Forte, Italian by birth, Neapolitan at heart.

Although I have been living in the UK for the past 36 years and maybe even a little bit because of that I am deeply passionate about my homeland: Italy, its culture, history, art and its language, La dolce lingua del sì.

I love reading, writing and helping businesses and individuals to communicate in Italian.

I started translating professionally in 1986, with a mechanical typewriter, a ream of paper, Tippex fluid and a bookcase full of dictionaries.

In this age of AI and MTPE, at the risk of being regarded as a relic from another era I still believe that ultimately there is no substitute for a Human Translator.

Because language is, ultimately, an expression of the heart. Something computers, software and algorithms don't have and never will.

For 36 years and counting I have been a freelance translator. I have not felt the need or the desire to change careers because it is what I love to do; and I love being a translator because I thrive on learning.

Being a patent translator, I am constantly learning; researching and acquiring knowledge about the most diverse technical, medical and scientific subjects.

My main professional tenet is very simple: If I can’t fully understand what I am translating nor will the readers be able to understand what I am writing and therefore, the first stage of each translation I undertake consists in reading, learning and understanding the subject at hand.

I have probably translated upwards of 30 million words in all subjects and for all industries gaining, in the process, a rare and comprehensive degree of expertise in most of them. I consider it the greatest privilege to work in a career that I still feel passionate about after such a long time. The experience and knowledge I have gained over the years is extensive and varied, however I am always looking out for a new challenge.
