About Me

I was born in Peru and came to the U.S. as a young child, but I was raised in a household, where Spanish was the only language allowed to be spoken. I spoke English at school and with my friends, but when I came home, I only spoke in Spanish to my family members and anyone else in our home. Though as a child I often found this taxing, I am now forever grateful that I have the opportunity to be able to be apart of two communities, the English-speaking and Spanish-speaking, and help wherever I can to connect these communities to each other.

Yo nací en Peru y vine a los EE.UU. cuando era una niña, pero me crie en un hogar donde el único lenguaje que se permitía hablar era el español. Yo habla ingles en la escuela y con mis amigos, pero cuando llegaba a mi casa, solo habla español con mis familiares y cualquier vista que estaba en nuestra casa. Cuando era niña estas reglas me causaban mucha molestia, pero ahora que ya soy adulta me doy cuenta de la bendición que es poder ser parte de dos comunidades, y que tengo la oportunidad de conectar a estas comunidades.
