About Me

I hold a Diploma in Translation (a Level 7 qualification from the Chartered Institute of Linguists in London, UK), after passing three examinations, two of them with distinction (Written translation of a semi-specialised literary text and Written translation of a semi-specialised science text).

I have worked in the fields of education and translation ever since I received my M.A. from Babeș-Bolyai University, in 2010. Throughout the years spent working in education I have developed excellent writing skills, a good command of grammar and an in-depth cultural knowledge (especially Romanian, British, Irish and American). While working as a teacher-librarian I have developed communications skills, like: having clarity and conciseness of speech, being a good listener, being respectful, being open-minded, being friendly and having empathy.

My work experience as a translator has helped me become an avid learner and researcher, pay attention to detail, and manage my time efficiently. Since 2021, I have worked as a freelance translator: translating non-fiction books for Litera Publishing House, translating subtitles for Zoo Digital (whose clients include Netflix and Disney), translating various documents for Translated. Additionally, I have gained professional experience by volunteering for organisations like Translators Without Borders (translating texts from the humanitarian field) and Translating for Humanity (translating medical documents). I have also volunteered for Distributed Proofreaders (a web-based project that supports the development of e-texts for Project Gutenberg) and LibriVox (a group of worldwide volunteers who read and record public domain texts, creating free public domain audiobooks), thus brushing up my proofreading skills and broadening my general knowledge.
